Bridge Program in Physiotherapy

While the ideology of establishing Aihmsa College was in the process, there was work that was initiated by Dato Dr. Bains with Manipal University, India in the year 2009 in developing a joint effort to enhance the Diploma In Physiotherapy that was offered by the newly mushrooming Colleges in Malaysia. The curricullum was carefully studied and there were essentially areas that needed to be added on adn a compulsory internship of 6 months was proposed and agreed upon. The final draft was ready by 2010. The draft was introduced to the MQA team.

The endorsement was not official as MQA does not have the jurisdiction to endorse curriculums of Universities outside Malaysia. Recruitment began in the year 2011 and our first batch comprised of students from various Malaysian Colleges. The first 11 students were sent to Manipal University in India and a team from Aihmsa Malaysia accompanied them. From then many more batches have successfully completed their education from Manipal University. To-date about 120 students have earned Bechelors Degree from this program. Many have found jobs in reputable hospitals and physiotherapy set-ups in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Dubai. A few of them have further pursues their Masters Program and have been absorbed into Education Programs in Universities in Malaysia. This Bridge Pro thus marked a milestone in the Physiothearpy profession in Malaysia. Aihmsa college will strive keeping up with this development and bring out profound HealthCare professionals in many years to come.
